Trout Jumping the Willoughby River in Vermont

The annual migration of trout up the Willoughby River. The trout jump the rapids at the end of April and draw spectators from all over Vermont. No one seems to know when exactly the trout will actually jump, so if you come to see this, you may be disappointed. It seems to depend on a lot of factors such as the water temperature which needs to be around 40 degrees. Rain the previous day also seems to incite the fish to jump
