Early morning take off
There are three balloon festivals in Vermont during the summer. The Stoweflake festival is a little smaller than the one in Quechee and quite modest in comparison with the Champlain Fesitval. Also the Stoweflake is put on by private enterprise, and is held on the grounds of the Stoweflake inn, just off the Mountain Lodge in Stowe. Entrance fee is $10.00. Balloon rides run about $300.00 per person these days. The price seems to increase about $25.00 per year. I can remember when they were $150.00. For this you get a 15-to-20 minute ride. Just like any other balloon festival, hot air balloons at the Stoweflake Festival in Stowe only occur in the early morning and early evening. This is when the wind tends to be calm.
