Bread & Puppet Theater is still making political comment. Every Sunday afternoon during the summer, Bread & Puppet puts on a Circus/Pageant outside Glover in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. The multi part videos here are from the Aug. 2008 performances.
Bread and Puppet always tries to reflect what is going on in the country as a basis for its satirical comedy. Dirt Cheap Money Circus resurrects some of the philosophy of Karl Marx. Indeed, the father of communism is depicted being resurrected from a coffin in one skit. The hymn of the Internationale is heard more than once during the various enactments. If you don’t mind a bit of this left wing fun, the Circus is just the place to go for outdoor theatre on a Sunday afternoon in the Kingdom.
