The Wedding of Maggie and Christian at Sugarbush
April 11th, 2009.
Spring skiing in early April is usually in full swing at Sugarbush. The sun is strong, the air is warm and you feel a refreshing feeling as you ski the slopes. So, it is not surprising that ski enthusiasts, Maggie and Christian Connolly picked Sugarbush to host their wedding day. Sugarbush is their favorite Vermont ski resort. Indeed, the family has a ski trail named after them.
The activities took place in Timbers Restaurant which is located right at the base. This wedding movie, presented in HD Video, illustrates use of Steadicam techniques and low wattage catch lights for the First Dance and Cake Cutting. If you are on a slow connection you may find loading interrupts the movie. If this happens, just let your computer download the movie and then go back and play it uninterrupted.
It's important to get the best footage possible whatever you're shooting, be it a wedding, a poker game or a film, and steadicam techniques will infinitely improve the quality of the work produced. Being able to take the viewer across the floor without that "footstep" effect will ensure that the nature of the camera itself does not detract from the visual experience.
When you test it out yourself you'll immediately notice the difference. The camera will move more slowly, you'll have far less disruption if you're in zoom, and long shots will pan a lot easier and your work won't have that irksome amateur "judder" feel to it. So give steadicam work a shot - it might just revolutionise the way you work.
