The Contract
Just as with any other wedding service, you will be asked to sign a contract and pay a significant deposit to book your wedding. If you’ve been searching on Craig’s List for your videographer, you may not be asked for such things. If you are not, that is a sure sign of inexperience. You need a little contract experience to detect problems here, so if you have not been involved in contractual deals before, have someone you trust and who has this kind of experience look things over. Written contracts provide a means of legal enforcement. For example, you need to know that you will get a full refund, if your videographer doesn’t show up on your special day. Being a pessimist is not a frame of mind you want to be in the period leading up to your wedding, but you do need to be prepared to deal with problems before they occur.
Be suspicious of low cost bids. A real professional knows what the costs are and is not going to work for below cost. If you heed some of this underlying advise, your selection of a videographer and other service providers will be much better. Your efforts will pay off in an overall satisfaction in the most important day in your life.
