Choosing your delivery
High definition TV is here....we all know that. But, what about wedding video? Most wedding videographers are still delivering standard definition DVDs even though, in a lot of cases, their equipment captures the wedding video in high definition. Why is this?
The reason is that many people still can't playback high definition video, even if they have a high def, LCD TV. You need a player as well, or some other method of getting that video into the TV.
There are three methods of delivery:
Of these three playback methods, I prefer the hard drive because it offers the most flexibility in coping with the ever changing advances in home video. The customer gets an edited high resolution video, with very little compression - a real high quality video file in the highest definition possible. The event is ready to be burned to disk, or compressed for use on the web or IPOD.
Hard drives are relatively inexpensive. You can buy a 1 Terrabyte hard drive for around $100 these days, This is more than enough space to hold a complete wedding in uncompressed, high definition video. Unfortunately, you need a certain amount of geekiness to make it work, but even if you can't, it is an ideal storage method for the future.
Apple TV is the next easiest method of delivery. Apple believes that home video's future is through the internet. It's Apple TV is designed to download Hollywood movies from its Itunes store. The unit will also store movie files including your own personal video files, such as a wedding video.
Blu Ray Disc - This technology was invented to save Hollywood from pirates. While the resulting video looks great, it requires an up to date Blu-Ray player. Many of the early Blu-Ray players don't play all Blu-Ray disks. In addition, the disks themselves are expensive to produce.
Video-Vermont can deliver your wedding video with any of these methods, but hopefully you will have better understanding about the choices available. If you have further questions about what you should get for playback of your wedding video, please feel free to call: 802-895-4295
