About Editing

Millions of people now have access to comparatively low cost, video editing tools, but just as millions have computers now, that doesn’t necessarily make them good writers or journalists.

The job of an editor is to tell a story in an easy to follow manner, to make the subject as interesting as possible, and to cut out the chaff when appropriate. Anybody can edit, but whether they can do a good job is another matter. As you view some of the videos on Video-Vermont, I think you will realize that they’ve been put together by a professional editor. This can make a big difference to your wedding video, especially if you have purchased highlights video. I am sure that you have seen the so called “cinematic video” on other sites and seen how some of them are just an unintelligible collection of scenes, cut together in a nonsensical fashion that is hard to follow. My training as an editor at various broadcast outlets has taught me how to organize a string of events into an entertaining and easy to follow fashion. My style is relatively simple, and maybe not for you. But, I think that you’ll agree that every video on this site is easy to follow!
