How we shot the Stowe wedding
Our Stowe wedding feature utilised five HD cameras. A week before the wedding, I visited the church to see the possible camera angles. It quickly became apparent that one camera would have to be positioned right up front and behind the celebrant and the wedding couple. A second camera would be needed at the back, a third in the balcony and a fourth in the aisle so that we could capture the wedding party as it moved into the church and left at the end of the ceremony. We used the fifth camera for running and capturing the bride as she walked into the church basement. I used a Fig Rig for this because it is ideal for running and shooting on the fly. You might think this is overkill, but it resulted in no missed shots. We were able to cover everything. It takes a minimum of two people to do this kind of thing and a great deal of editing time because there are five camera tapes to go through and synch up with our sound. Our audio, by the way, was recorded separately with pocket digital audio recorders and Sennheiser wireless mikes. We double mike everything because back ups are essential when covering a wedding and without good sound, all can be lost!
