Pond Skimming is an annual event at most ski mountains which marks an end to the ski season. This pond skimming event occured at Jay Peak, a rugged ski mountain in northeastern Vermont which gets lots of snow and cold arctic winds. The video was shot on April 19th with a Canon XHA-1 in HD. All shots were at 1280i 60p. I edited in FCP 6.02 and imported the clips with Apple HRes 420. One of the clips has been slowed down in Motion. I used vivid RGB for the Canon and over exposed by quite a few stops so that people didn't look all black. I have not attempted to make this video a work of art but rather for amusement and for the technical quality offered by HD. The sound is badly distorted. I could not find a way of attenuating my Sennheiser shot gun mike sufficiently. Also the event's sound system was doused with water several times and was very distorted itself!
